President and CEO
Linda Singler Holyfield, RN, MSN, and the president and CEO of P&S Surgical Hospital, has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership. She has devoted much of that time creating healthcare opportunities in northeast Louisiana.
Linda spent the first 15 years of her career developing and managing numerous critical care services. During that time, she designed and opened four adult ICUs, a PICU, and telemetry units; she also started an open-heart program and developed an emergency department. She then led the establishment of a community health center, a community clinic for the underserved, the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute, and P&S Surgical Hospital. Under her leadership, P&S Surgical Hospital has grown from a small ambulatory surgery center that performed approximately 3,500 cases annually, to a thriving surgical hospital that performs approximately 10,000 cases each year. Linda also serves as president and CEO of Specialty Management Services of Ouachita, a healthcare management & consulting company.
She works locally and nationally to improve healthcare and healthcare systems. Linda led the development of a statewide health improvement plan, Louisiana Turning Point Initiative, which was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson and W. K. Kellogg Foundations. In addition, she served as a member of Governor Kathleen Blanco’s Health Care Reform Task Force and Governor Bobby Jindal’s Health Care Transition Committee. She was also a member the national Catholic Health Association (Washington, DC) Task Force on the Uninsured.
She is a member of the Council for a Better Louisiana, the Children’s Coalition, American College of Healthcare Executives, Louisiana Hospital Association, and the Physician’s Hospital Association. She currently serves on the Louisiana Public Health Institute, the University Health Board of Trustees, the ULM Foundation Board of Trustees. She is past president/board chair for the United Way of Northeast Louisiana, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and the Wellspring. She has served as adjunct nursing faculty for ULM, Louisiana Tech University, and Grambling State University. In recognition of her efforts to improve her community, she and her husband Joe were awarded the Rambin/Silverstein Award by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
Linda received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a Master of Nursing Administration (with a healthcare administration minor) from Northwestern State University. Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Terri Hicks, MBA, is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at P&S Surgical Hospital. She is also Senior Vice President and CFO of Specialty Management Services of Ouachita, a healthcare management and consulting company. Her incredible work ethic has resulted in 20 years of professional advancement and entrepreneurship.
She began her healthcare career as a receptionist at a hematology and oncology clinic, where she was promoted to assistant manager. The hematology and oncology clinic was purchased by the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute in 1995. She eventually became the business administrator until her departure in 1998, when she was hired as the operations manager at what is now known as P&S Surgical Hospital. She was quickly promoted to operations director and ultimately, the hospital’s CFO and Vice President.
Terri’s financial and business expertise has contributed greatly to the growth and progress of P&S Surgical Hospital. Under her leadership, every financial audit has been deemed unqualified. In addition, she has led the creation and development of operational systems throughout the hospital, including human resources, information technology systems and business operations. She has established hospital procedures, implemented staff training, and created unique organization methods still utilized by the hospital today.
Terri has also led three information technology conversions and has updated all of the hospital’s billing, operational, financial, and clinical systems. She oversees a staff of 60 employees, while preparing budgets, forecasting revenues, negotiating contracts, and developing strategic plans. She also possesses significant expertise in statistics, trending, and analytics.
She is active in the Monroe community, currently serving as the Treasurer on the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Executive Board of Directors. She earned a bachelor of science in business accounting and an MBA at the University of Phoenix.Bio | Email me
Vice President of Patient Care Services
Debbie Austin, RN, MSN, CNOR, is the Vice President of Patient Care Services at P&S Surgical Hospital, where she ensures each patient enjoys the very best experience. Her commitment to patients has resulted in a National Press Ganey Summit Award, given to hospitals that achieve a 99 percent in-patient satisfaction rate. She has also played an integral role in the hospital’s addition of two operating rooms, a renovated cath lab, 12 additional patient rooms and a new radiology pre-operative clinic. Debbie has also worked diligently to help the hospital achieve the unique distinctions of “Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery” and “Minimally Invasive Gynecology.”
Prior to her time at P&S Surgical Hospital, she worked at Glenwood Regional Medical Center for almost 20 years. She began her career there as a perioperative nurse and was promoted to the director of surgical services. She eventually became the clinical coordinator of education, where she was responsible for providing educational opportunities for the hospital staff.
Debbie’s experience in surgery, education, and administration have allowed her the opportunity to learn all aspects of the nursing field and to share that education with her staff at P&S Surgical Hospital. She is knowledgeable in the areas of finance, standards of care, regulatory, business, and nursing. She understands the dynamics of the nursing workforce and is committed to staffing flexibility, creativity, and balance in life and work. Her 35 years in the nursing field have given her experience in surgery and have allowed her to develop professional relationships with physicians—all in a progressive and fast-paced environment with excellent quality and patient outcomes.
Debbie earned a bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a master of science in nursing at the University of Phoenix. She is also certified in perioperative nursing.Bio | Email me
